1/8 and 1/10 Nitro Starter Boxes
RC Nitro Starter Boxes & Batteries: Reliable Engine Cranking
A brand-new, high-compression competition nitro engine often has so much mechanical "pinch" at the top of the stroke that it is nearly impossible to turn over by hand. To effortlessly overcome this massive resistance and fire up your power plant quickly and safely, a professional Starter Box (Bump Box) is absolutely mandatory. Instead of struggling with a pull-start, you simply push your chassis down onto the box. A heavy-duty, high-speed rubber wheel makes direct contact with the engine's flywheel through a slot in the chassis, violently spinning it to life with immense torque.
In this category, we supply heavily engineered, high-torque starter boxes from premium brands like Koswork, Team Associated, and RUDDOG. To ensure you have everything you need to hit the track, this category also features the dedicated high-output batteries required to power these boxes.
Specialized Bump Boxes for Off-Road and On-Road
Chassis layouts and flywheel positioning vary drastically depending on your specific racing class. Because of this, we offer dedicated starter boxes for every application, featuring fully adjustable alignment pegs to perfectly lock in your specific chassis:
-
1/8 Off-Road (Buggy & Truggy): Off-road buggies feature longer chassis plates and higher ground clearance. The starter boxes designed for this class utilize oversized, high-grip rubber wheels and massive dual-motor setups (such as twin 775-size motors) to effortlessly crank over heavy 1/8th scale flywheels, even on brand-new, extremely tight engines.
-
1/8 and 1/10 On-Road (Touring Cars): On-road vehicles sit incredibly low to the ground, and their flywheels are frequently mounted transversely. Dedicated on-road bump boxes are much more compact and specifically designed to perfectly align the starter wheel without damaging fragile carbon fiber chassis components or interfering with complex belt-drive systems.
Maximum Cranking Amps: Dedicated Starter Box Batteries
A bump box is only as powerful as the power source feeding it. Typically, these units require an input voltage ranging from 12V to 14.8V to perform optimally. In this category, you will find both the starter boxes and their ideal power supplies. While heavy 12V gel-cell lead-acid batteries were the standard in the past, modern racers exclusively utilize dedicated Starter Box LiPos. Depending on your box's wiring, this usually involves a single, lightweight 4S LiPo block (14.8V) or a pair of 2S LiPos (7.4V) wired in series. These specific batteries deliver massive burst discharge rates (C-ratings), completely guaranteeing that the electric motors inside your box will never stall or bog down, even when attempting to break in a highly compressed, ice-cold nitro engine.
