Battery Weights
RC Battery Weights: Flawless Balance and Maximum Grip
The introduction of ultra-lightweight LCG (Low Center of Gravity) LiPo batteries and compact shorty packs fundamentally changed how modern RC cars are set up. While these lightweight power sources significantly reduce overall mass, they frequently cause the chassis to drop below mandatory class minimum weight limits, or entirely ruin the left-to-right lateral weight bias.
To effectively restore perfect handling dynamics and keep the center of gravity as low to the ground as physically possible, under-battery weights are your most critical tuning tool. Placed directly underneath or alongside your LiPo pack, they glue the chassis to the track. In this category, we supply precision-machined weights crafted from diverse materials by industry leaders Revolution Design (RDRP), Koswork, and Reedy.
Tungsten, Brass, and Steel: Tailoring Your Setup
Depending on the physical clearance inside your battery tray and the exact amount of mass you need to add, different metal compounds offer unique advantages:
-
Tungsten by Revolution Design (RDRP): Tungsten features an incredibly high density, making it significantly heavier than lead or steel of the same volume. RDRP tungsten weights can be machined razor-thin while still delivering massive weight. This is the ultimate premium choice when you have virtually zero vertical clearance under your battery but need to heavily anchor the bottom of your chassis.
-
Brass by Koswork: Brass is the traditional heavyweight champion in RC tuning. Koswork brass weights provide excellent density at a highly competitive price point, making them perfect for aggressively dialing in heavy setups and keeping the car completely planted through high-speed sweepers.
-
Steel by Reedy: Reedy’s premium steel weights are highly rigid and exceptionally durable. They serve as excellent, heavy-duty base plates to perfectly balance the chassis while simultaneously stiffening the lower battery compartment.
Achieving Perfect Symmetrical Handling
An RC car that carries more weight on one side than the other will never corner symmetrically. By strategically placing precise battery weights, you ensure your buggy, pan car, or touring car sits flawlessly balanced on a corner weight scale. This exact symmetry translates directly into highly predictable steering response, perfectly level jumps, and vastly more consistent lap times.
